Written by AJSPM on November 25th, 2009

Social network marketing is a great way for small and mid-sized businesses to build a customer base through Online Marketing Services. Here are a few things to improve your effectiveness as a social network marketer.

1. Most organizations prefer to be present in a lot of social networking sites. But the fact is it is easier and more effective to maintain a high profile on a few selective sites and develop Online Marketing Services. However, if you choose to have presence on multiple sites, make sure you assign a team to regulate your various profiles regularly. Actively participating in the communities is an essential part of social networking.

2. Visit blogs and other social networking sites and find your supporters. Invite them to be your friends. It is good to start off with loyal supporters who will help word-of-mouth marketing of your product.

3. Prepare your site completely before promoting it. If you invite users before it is ready, they may visit a few times and leave unimpressed to never come back again.

4. Discuss and test innovative ideas that people may want to be associated with. Putting out questionnaires and inviting feedback are the best ways to get a feel of the market. This way you get to know if your idea works realistically. Update regularly with content reflecting new issues that you are working with. This builds trust for your visitors to know that you are tackling and handling problems regularly. Also giving your visitors something new to read everyday is a good way of keeping them coming back regularly.

5. Grow your list of contacts constantly. Whenever you find members with similar interests, you can send a message requesting to be added to their list of contacts. This gives you the opportunity to meet other like minded users from that member’s network, thereby multiplying your contacts faster.

6. Don’t restrict yourself to getting contacts from the same or related industries. Diversify your contacts and you will meet people who know other people in other industries who might be interested in your product. If you find that one of your social networking connections knows somebody else you are interested in meeting, pick up the phone and call. Social networking is also an indirect method to do some real personal marketing.

7. The key to marketing success is to get your new friends onto an organizational e-mail list so you can directly communicate with them. Putting prominent links on your profile will help you convert your friends easily into email list members. Keeping track of who comes into your system can help you personalize your messages.

8. If you have a good product, especially software, you can submit it to a high rating site. Editors of these sites can rate and recommend your product to other visitors. This gives credibility to your product from a third party site.

Social network marketing allows you to get out into the public’s eye, build your reputation, and gain user trust simply through online marketing services. Ultimately, there is no better way to show people who you really are than to talk with them on a common platform on a consistent basis.
